Acco is a well-known Belgian publisher and retailer that partners closely with universities to provide study materials and publish educational content. Their digital learning platform, Sofia, bridges the gap between physical and online learning.
When ChatGPT took the world by storm in late 2022, it sparked a wave of debate across the education sector. While some worried that students might take shortcuts, others saw an opportunity to improve the learning process itself. Acco was quick to act. They explored how generative AI could enrich their platform and empower students to study smarter, not harder.

Acco teamed up with the Raccoons experts to explore AI’s role in education. After an inspiring masterclass on generative AI, they quickly moved to prototyping. The result? A working proof-of-concept (POC) powered by GPT-4o, hosted securely on Microsoft Azure, and fully aligned with Sofia’s brand and user experience.

After a successful test phase, Acco is now scaling up. The AI assistant will be integrated across the Sofia platform, offering enhanced learning experiences to students everywhere. But this is about more than just staying ahead of the curve, Acco is fundamentally reimagining what studying can look like in the AI era.
